Enchanted: review

Erotic Bedtime Stories For Women

If you are under 18 please skip this review and come back for the next one.

" Allow yourself to be drawn into a fantasy world like no other . . . where a beautiful princess is seduced into a love triangle with a handsome prince and her winsome maid . . . where a mysterious gentleman's young bride is deliciously disciplined for her unchecked curiosity . . . where a naive daughter is married off to a beast of a man whose carnal appetites awaken her budding desire . . .

"With a unique and decidedly adult twist on thirteen classic fairy tales, Nancy Madore intrigues and arouses with her titillating, sizzling anthology of erotic stories guaranteed to keep you up late into the night.

"You'll never look at fairy tales the same way again. "

This book was alright, but with each new page I was looking and wanting more. I see the words Erotic written write there on the cover of this book, but it was anything but. It was safe in the department of erotic stories, and who wants safe in this area, blah! I had higher hopes for this book, and it fell short.

What Happens In Vegas: Review

(Hot for You/Stripped/Red-Handed/The Deal)
by:
Jodi Lynn Copeland,
Kit Tunstall,
Anya Bast,
Lauren Dane

If you are under 18 please do not read this review
Synopsis:

Behind closed doors, the real games begin...

Winning it big. That's the name of the game at Las Vegas's Liege Hotel and Casino, where the hottest fantasies hinge on a roll of the dice...and the tantalizing knowledge that anything could happen before sunrise.

Cocktail waitress Carinna wants a man to tie her up, not tie her down. Little does she know that her most willing partner yet has something else planned for this fiery Latina bombshell.

Dahlia is a burlesque dancer with a brain for business and a bod for sin. Her latest admirer may be a sweet-talking Casanova, but despite what he thinks she's not giving anything away free.

Meanwhile, Amy has the perfect plan to rob the Liege Casino blind...until the intimidating owner catches her red-handed. Now she knows she's going to pay... with both pleasure and pain.

Professional shill Cassidy is ready to experience a breathless rendezvous with her "friend with benefits." But when he proposes five delicious nights of sexy blackjack, the stakes have never been so high.

I loved that this book had 4 short stories in it. Always makes for a fast read. All of these stories were steamy and man they didn't waste anytime! I enjoyed how all the characters from each story were from totally different walks of life but Vegas ties them all together! This book brings a whole new meaning to what happens in Vegas, stays in Vegas!

Ambition: Review

(Private Series #7)
by Kate Brian

Synopsis:
The higher you climb, the farther you have to fall....

Reed Brennan knew being elected president of exclusive Billings Hall would change her life. What she didn't count on was being dumped by her boyfriend, Josh Hollis, or being held responsible for a fire that destroyed Easton Academy's oldest building.

And now the administration wants to shut Billings down. Forever.

As president, it's up to Reed to save Billings Hall. What better way to win over the headmaster than to host a glam fund-raising event in New York City? Everyone needs a date, and the newly single Reed is the most eligible girl on campus. All of Easton's hottest boys are angling to take her out, and for once, Reed's biggest problem is which one to choose.

Reed has never felt so popular or powerful -- until the police start asking questions about Cheyenne Martin's death. Excited party buzz quickly turns to whispered rumors and dark moods, and one thing becomes clear: There is someone who wants to see Billings, and Reed, go down. And they will do anything to make it happen.

This book is a perfect example not to believe what happens in Vegas at the Legacy stays at the Legacy.Reed has just turned into a whole new girl from the first book in this series, a little vixen!

I like the new vixen Reed, I am giving this book 4 stars!

Legacy: Review

(Private Series #6)
by Kate Brian

Synopsis:

The price of power...

After Cheyenne Martin's death, everyone at Easton Academy is struggling to recover from yet another tragedy—especially the girls of Billings Hall. With Cheyenne gone, they need to elect a new leader. And who better than Reed Brennan, the ultimate Billings Girls?

As the new Billings president, Reed suddenly has access to power she never imagined. Gossip is reported to her immediately, she has first dibs on everything from dining tables to dorm rooms, and Billings's most powerful alumnae are at her beck and call. So when Easton's students discover they're the only prep school on the East Coast not invited to this year's all-inclusive Legacy party, everyone turns to Reed to get them back on the list.

Reed is the most powerful girl at Easton.

She revels in her newfound status, but knows better than anyone that the Bilings leaders have a tainted legacy: Ariana was institutionalized, Noelle was expelled, and Cheyenne just died. History has a way of repeating itself at Easton, and now that Reed has everything she's ever wanted, she has everything to lose.

I think my mom should read this book and see how much of an angel I was when I was a teenager. I mean I got busted for doing many of stupid things, in fact I could even name so names of the gals who are most likely reading this now, but I won't. Let's just say thes girls don't know when to back off and lay low, something I would like to think I had down pack, or not if you ask the mama!! HA HA HA

Inner Circle: Review

(Private Series #5)
by Kate Brian

Last year was just he beginning. Welcome to the inner circle.

Reed Brennan arrived at Easton Academy expecting to find an idyllic private school experience -- challenging classes, adorably preppy boys, and a chance to create a new life for herself. Instead, she discovered lies, deception, blackmail, and...murder. But, thankfully, the killers were caught and the nightmare is finally over.

The old Billings Girls are gone.

Now, with a new school year ahead of her, Reed steps back on Easton's ivy-covered campus ready to start over. So when the headmaster announces that billings is forbidden from holding their traditional, secretive initiation, Reed is relieved. She champions the new rules and the six new girls the administration has picked to live in Billings Hall: Constance, Missy, Lorna, Kiki, Astrid, and newcomer Sabine.

But Reed's fellow Billings resident and new nemesis, Cheyenne Martin, believes the changes are a mockery of Billings history. Despite the new rules, Cheyenne vows to keep the old ways alive, no matter what -- or who -- stands in her way...

I am such a teeny bopper at heart, look at me being the age I am ( ssh, none of your businessm ha ha ha) and totally loving these books. These books are perfect if you want a quick and easy read. Just to prove how fast of a read this can be. I finished one book yesterday afternoon, went to bed after the monkey's were asleep and finished this one. There is some serious drama in this book, meow!

Confessions: Review

(Private Series #4)
by Kate Brian

Sometimes the truth hurts....

Reed Brennan came to superposh Easton Academy to make a brand-new life for herself. At first it seemed as though her dream had come true-she was living in the ultraexclusive Billings Hall, hanging out with the all-powerful Billings Girls, and dating the very hot Thomas Pearson. But Thomas turned out to be different from what she thought...and then he turned up dead. And if that wasn't twisted enough, Reed's new boyfriend, Josh Hollis, was arrested for Thomas's murder.

Now everyone is back to worrying about the regular stuff, like how to sneak to the boys' dorms at night, whether two-ply cashmere is warm enough for fall, and whether to fly to London or Barcelona for Thanksgiving break.

Everyone except for Reed.

Reed is convinced that Josh is innocent, which means the killer is still out there. Now it's up to Reed to uncover the truth. But the deeper she digs, the more secrets she unearths and the closer she gets to the confession that will change everything...if she's alive to hear it.

Insert Tammy Wynette's, Stand by Your Man song... ha ha ha! I could not help myself.

Confessions is my favorite in the series thus far, so much that I am going to give it 5 stars, count them... 5 stars!!!

Untouchable: Reveiw

(Private, Book 3)
by Kate Brian

Cheating, partying, blackmail, and now...murder?

Can the Billings Girls remain untouchable?

Reed's boyfriend, Thomas Pearson -- the popular, easygoing, irresistibly handsome and charismatic boy she fell in love with -- is dead. No one knows how it happened, and everyone is after the truth. Or are they?

Life at Easton Academy begins to feel very different. Taylor is acting like the poster child for Prozac, Kiran is spiking her cornflakes, Noelle is being kind of...nice, and Arianna keeps floating along as if nothing has happened.

Thanksgiving break arrives and Reed and Josh find themselves alone on campus. They are forced to confront the feelings they've been hiding. Those feelings combined with an empty campus result in the hottest hookup Reed could possibly imagine. But when Reed breaks the news about Josh to the Billings Girls, there's no fun game of tell-all. Instead, Josh begins to look like suspect No. 1 in the murder of Thomas Pearson.

The perfect life Reed has constructed as a Billings Girl begins to crumble. And as everyone becomes more convinced of Josh's guilt, Reed's private suspicions lead her somewhere she doesn't want to go.

3 books into this series and I am convinced that my high school was super boring! I feel sorry for my fellow students and I that we didn't get nearly has much drama as Reed .
HA HA HA!

I am enjoying this series and I just picked up the rest of the books so I can read the rest straight through. With loosing the baby a few days ago, these books help keep my mind off of anything too deep.

Untouchable gets 4 stars from me and it falls into these reading challenges...

The Haunted Queen Mary: Review

By Robert James Wlodarski
and
Anne Powell Wlodarski

" Welcome aboard the world's most haunted ship, the Queen mary, where you can step into the past, and easily imagine what it must have been like to sail aboard this luxurious ocean liner. Memories abount throughout the ship, and so do GHOSTS!

The Queen mary seems to be a gateway or door to another world where unexplainable things continue to happen with regularity. Whoever, or whatever lurks in the shadows, can be seen, heard, smelled and felt. For those who have witnessed the events, it is all too real. The ship represents a kind of "dead zone" that sends a shiver up people's spines, makes their hair stand on end, or causes themt o seek the safety of a well-lit room, and find comfort in other humans. These events continue to occur with regularity to people of all walks of life- skeptics and believers alike. As parapsychologists suggest, when there are so many memories and emotions, there is bound to be residual energy and a potential for hauntings".

Since I was born and raised, and continue to live here in Long Beach where the Queen Mary is docked, I have never known a time when I did not know about the ship and the stories that come along with it.

I remember once my mom took me, my brother and my Nena to the Queen Mary and we went on the haunted tour! No shame in my game, I cried, and my Nena laughed.

To this day I am not sure if I cried because I believed the stories or all the hype that was put into the stories. Would love to go back as an adult, of course the Punky Monkey's will be staying back.

A lot of the stories told in this book were ones I have heard before, but there was some new ones in it as well. I am still the most crept out when they talk about the nursery that was on the ship.
This book was a tad repetitive, but the pictures that they included in this book were amazing and eerie at the same time.

I am giving this book 4 stars. It is always fun to read up on the town you have been apart of your entire life.

The Haunted Queen Mary falls into these challenges....

Tell me about your hometown, or the town you live in now, anything believed to be haunted?

The Angels Trilogy: Review

by Lurlene McDaniel
Leah is not happy about being stuck in the hospital for the holidays while her mother is thousands of miles away on a honeymoon with husband number five. Until she meets her hospital roommate, Rebekah, and her big family. Cynical 16-year-old Leah has never known people like this before. From Rebekah?s handsome brother, Ethan, who can barely look Leah in the eye, to her kind older sister, Charity, the Amish family captivates Leah with its simple, loving ways. When Leah receives frightening information about her condition, her new friends show her that miracles can happen. And that sometimes angels appear in the most unexpected places.

I have never read anything by Lurlene McDaniel and to be honest I am not sure what made me pick this book off a shelf of more than a hundred books, but I am sure glad I did.

What a great story!! Proves that just because people are different in background and beliefs does not make them all that different when it comes to life lessons.

The Angel Trilogy was a real treat! I am giving this book 5 stars!

The Angels Trilogy falls into these reading challenges....

A Touck of Silk: Review

by Lori Wilde

Manhattan reporter Kay Freemont spends her days writing about sex and her nights wondering what all the hype is about. So when sexy, single Quinn Scofield places an advertisement in her magazine for a wife, Kay decides it's way past time she found out!

Although Kay knows she's too repressed to live out her most forbidden fantasies, under Quinn's imaginative tutelage she becomes more in tune with her own sensuality. This city girl thinks she has time for only a red-hot fling unless Quinn has his way, and she accepts his offer of a lifetime of incredible sex!

I love reading these books because they are good fillers, fast reads! I figured there was no reason for me not to be done with the Harlequin reading challenge, so I decided to hope on this one.

I enjoyed this book, it was lusty without being over the top corny, and let me tell you there is a fine line between the two! HA HA HA!

I will give this book 4 stars.

This book falls into these reading challenges...

I Love a Man in Uniform: Review

by Lily Burana

From Publishers Weekly

A former stripper, Burana (Strip City) married a major in the U.S. Army and records, in this heartfelt though long-winded confessional, her attempts to render their two very different worlds compatible. Burana enjoyed a decidedly checkered past, from accidental teenage communist to peep-show girl and stripper in New York and San Francisco (she fondly recalls her Playboy shoot), before meeting Major Mike at a ceremony in a Brooklyn cemetery in 2000. She was attracted by his sense of order and honor, even charmed by his military jargon, while he admired her rebelliousness, though these same qualities would challenge their relationship over time. Living together in a condo near Fort Meade, Fla., where Mike was stationed, segued into a quick marriage (she called herself a War on Terror bride), before he was deployed to Iraq for six months in 2003, creating for her a painful personal trial of waiting and self-discipline. Their move to West Point underscored her new role as military wife, and she embarked on a gloomy, unstable period of psychological turmoil requiring therapy and medication for her own brand of post-traumatic stress disorder. Marriage counseling worked for them, bucking the high divorce rate within the armed forces, and Burana concludes her memoir on a positive note, having made peace with the army's fallibility and found her own place in it. (Apr.)

A email buddy of mine had mentioned she was reading this book so I went and picked it up and I am so glad I did! I related to a lot in this book ( no, not the stripper part, ha ha ha), but being a military wive for 8 years you do face certain struggles, and many blessings! She writes about the Army, and hubby was in the Marines, but somethings remain the same regardless of the uniform your spouse is wearing.

I am now going to run out and get Lily Burana's other book, she has sass!

I am giving this book 5 stars! Wit woo!

This book falls into these book challenges. 6 months left of the year, think I can finish all my challenges????

Until next time...
Happy Reading!

Monster Blood: Review

My oldest son who is about to finish up the second grade found a new series he loves to read.... goosebumps by R.L. Stine. Trip out, I remember when I was in middle school I loved reading the older series from him. So this review is from my 7 year old, just in case any of you have kids out there around his age.

Monster Blood
by R.L. Stine

Product Description:

Something scary is happening in GOOSEBUMPS HORRORLAND, the all-new, all-terrifying series by R. L. Stine. Just how scary? You'll never know unless you crack open this classic prequel!

Evan visits an eerie old toy store and buys a dusty can of Monster Blood. But then he notices something weird about the slimy green ooze. It keeps growing. And growing. And growing. And all that growing has given the Monster Blood a monstrous appetite.

In the words of 'D' " this book rocks mom"! 'D' was getting up early to read this book ( which is fine because he didn't wake me up, lol) and would crack it open the second he got home from school. The age Amazon gives for a suggestion is 9, but 'D' who again is 7, is having no trouble with it, and is able to tell hubby and I all about what he is reading.

When asked ' D' gives this book " maybe 4 stars". HA HA HA!!!

Well there you have it folks, a review out of the month of my little man. I look forward to sharing many more books from my boys and their summer reading. Thinking I might even make a book challenge out of it!

Until Next time..
Happy Reading!

Size 12 Is Not Fat: Review

by Meg Cabot

Synopsis

Heather Wells Rocks!

Or, at least, she did. That was before she left the pop-idol life behind after she gained a dress size or two — and lost a boyfriend, a recording contract, and her life savings (when Mom took the money and ran off to Argentina). Now that the glamour and glory days of endless mall appearances are in the past, Heather's perfectly happy with her new size 12 shape (the average for the American woman!) and her new job as an assistant dorm director at one of New York's top colleges. That is, until the dead body of a female student from Heather's residence hall is discovered at the bottom of an elevator shaft.
The cops and the college president are ready to chalk the death off as an accident, the result of reckless youthful mischief. But Heather knows teenage girls . . . and girls do not elevator surf. Yet no one wants to listen — not the police, her colleagues, or the P.I. who owns the brownstone where she lives — even when more students start turning up dead in equally ordinary and subtly sinister ways. So Heather makes the decision to take on yet another new career: as spunky girl detective!
But her new job comes with few benefits, no cheering crowds, and lots of liabilities, some of them potentially fatal. And nothing ticks off a killer more than a portly ex-pop star who's sticking her nose where it doesn't belong . . .

FUN FUN FUN BOOK! I read this book a few weeks ago, back when I posted my TBR pile and just realized I didn't review it here, slacker!!!! HA HA HA!

I am giving this book 5 stars because it was like a one day read, and it was fun... and I loved the title.... truer words have never been spoken!

The Last Wife of Henry Vlll: Review

by Carolly Erickson

Synopsis:

From the bestselling and critically acclaimed author of The Hidden Diary of Marie Antoinette comes a powerful new novel about Catherine Parr, The Last Wife of Henry VIII. The least known of Henry VIII's six wives was the cleverest of them all. Alluring, witty, and resourceful, she attracted the king's lust and, though much in love with the handsome Thomas Seymour, was thrown into the intrigue-filled snakepit of the royal court. While victims of the king's wrath suffered torture and execution, Catherine withstood the onslaught, even when Henry sought to replace her with wife number seven. She survived her royal husband, and found happiness with Seymour--but it was shadowed by rivalry with the young Princess Elizabeth, whose affection Seymour coveted. Catherine won the contest, but at great cost.

This is my second book by Carolly Erickson and I am heading to the library at once to see what else they have of her work! She is amazing! This book was so well written and just it was a page turner. I started reading it Thursday, went away for a girls weekend and was unable to pick it back up until yesterday and it is now DONE!

A must for anyone who enjoys a good historical read! I am giving this book 4 stars!

This book falls into these book challenges !

No! I Don't Want to Join a Book Club: Review

Marie Sharp is about to turn 60, and unlike many of her peers, she has no interest in taking up paragliding or living for three months with a Masai tribe in Africa. She's intent on accepting this new phase of her life, which brings with it the freedom to do old things, such as getting a pension and free prescriptions and, as her neighbor helpfully points out, "tekkin' it eezee, man." Marie, in fact, has such an easygoing attitude toward aging that her friends are constantly inviting her out to dinner and on vacation. She's also excited about becoming a grandmother and babysitting for her grandchild, who has "the air of a very clean goblin" given to "laughing rather inappropriately." And though Marie has declared herself done with romantic entanglements, there's a very kind old friend, recently widowed, who has a crush on her. For Marie, old age is looking pretty wonderful. Ironside is pretty wonderful herself, offering a witty and, at times, poignant depiction of the challenges and freedoms that come with getting older.

I had a hard time getting into this book at the start, not sure if it is because I am in my reading historic fiction books at the moment. I go through phases! Once I got into a few chapters it got much better for me, but was still not my favorite read.

I did finish this book so I will give this book 3 stars... barely!

This book falls into these book challenges ( lists that need to be updated badly... promise to get to this ASAP).

Until next time...
Happy Reading!

The Hidden Diary of Marie Antoinette: review

Hidden Diary of Marie Antoinette: by Carolly Erickson

From Publishers WeeklyHistorian Erickson (Bloody Mary; To the Scaffold; etc.) makes her first foray into fiction with this invented journal kept by the notorious queen who was sent to the guillotine during the French Revolution in 1793. Recounting her childhood as Austrian Archduchess Maria Antonia, her marriage to feckless Frenchman Louis XVI and her naïve pangs of conscience about hungry peasants clamoring at the gates of Versailles, Erickson delivers a spirited blend of fiction and fact. While Marie Antoinette's love affair with Swedish nobleman Axel Fersen is well-documented, other characters pivotal to Erickson's plot are pure fabrication: swarthy servant Eric, his jealous wife, Amelie, and the queen's confessor, Father Kuthibert. These inventions add color to the story of the ruler inaccurately linked to the phrase "Let them eat cake!" The novel's narrative engagingly reflects Marie Antoinette's progression from privileged adolescent to royal mother of four (though only one daughter and son survived into adulthood), and Erickson's descriptions of pomp and circumstance lend flavor and flair. While France's most infamous queen was clearly more sybarite than saint, Erickson's lively account reveals a woman whose bravery and resilience seem as noteworthy as the bloody details of her demise.

I have mentioned it a few times, and I will say it again, I love reading books from back in the day. Might be my favorite!

This book showed a different side of Marie Antoinette, more than just the popular phase we all think of when we hear her name... " Let them eat Cake". Which is a perfect motto to live by if you ask me!

Loved this book and I am going to give it 4 out of 5 stars!

This book falls into these reading challenges, take a peek maybe you can find your next read on one of my lists.

Until next time...
