Sea Change

16-year-old Miranda Merchant is great at science...and not so great with boys. After major drama with her boyfriend and (now ex) best friend, she's happy to spend the summer on small, mysterious Selkie Island, helping her mother sort out her late grandmother's estate.

There, Miranda finds new friends and an island with a mysterious, mystical history, presenting her with facts her logical, scientific mind can't make sense of. She also meets Leo, who challenges everything she thought she knew about boys, friendship...and reality.

Is Leo hiding something? Or is he something that she never could have imagined?

My favorite line out of this book is... " Maybe people didn't just inherit looks and talents and the propensity for illness, but they also inherited desires".

I thought Sea Change was a sweet and endearing tale of first love that stays with you till the end. The way Aimee Friedman wrote this book it makes me wonder if we will be seeing Miranda and Leo again in another novel?!?!

Water is a fantasy trilogy that combines the legends of the Knights of the Round Table and the lost city of Atlantis. Transformation is Book Three of Three. Transformation, Book Three description: The sea is the birthplace of legends. Nia and Corwin have each fought their own battles.

At first I thought I was just going to read this series because I needed books with mermaids to finish a challenge, but I found myself enjoying the books. Transformation was not as good as the first two but it still was a nice addition to the series. Predictable in some area's, but reminded myself that the author's target audience was not my age brackett to begin with... ha ha ha!

Fish Out of Water

Fred the Mermaid has taken the bait and chosen to date Artur, Prince of the Black Sea, over human marine biologist Thomas. And just in time. The existence of the Undersea Folk is no longer a secret, and someone needs to keep them from floundering in the media spotlight. Fred has all the right skills for that job, but has a hard time when her real father surfaces and tries to overthrow Artur's regime.

Can you tell I am on a Mermaid kick, well mainly because I am trying to finish up a reading challenge, but they are growing on me. I want a pretty mermaid tail!!

Fish Out of Water was my favorite out of the series. It had spunk, and the story line went in more depth than the first two books did. I love Fred the mermaid... she is kicking butt and taking down names, I just pray my name doesn't end up on her list. Meow!

Swimming Without a Net

Plenty of fish in the sea...

It's not normal for a mermaid to hate being out in the open water, but Fred never claimed to be normal. To visit the undersea realm of Arthur, the High Prince, and the rest of the royal merfamily, she has to fin it to the Cayman Islands. Luckily, hunky marine biologist Thomas is along for the swin- in his custom made underwater RV. He'll be able to explore where no " outlander" has gone before and give Fred a palce to escape to when the Undersea Folk start getting on her nerves.

But as Fred tries to fit in with her own kind, she finds herself hooked on both Artur and Thomas, and caught between two factions of merfolk: those happy with swimming under the radar- and those who want to bring their existence to the surface.

Another fast and witty book by Mary Janice Davidson. This serious is turning out to be good fluff! Meaning it is perfect for when you just need a break from everything else you are reading. Light reads are always perfect at keeping you on track. I did find that the book was rushed at the end. Hate when authors do this.

Sleeping with the Fishes

Fred is not your ordinary mermaid. She's not blonde. She's not buxom. And she's definitely not perky. In fact, Fred can be downright cranky. And it doesn't help matters that her hair is blue.

While volunteering at the New England Aquarium, Fred learns that there are weird levels of toxins in the local seawater. A gorgeous marine biologist wants her help investigating. So does her merperson ruler, the High Prince of the Black Sea. You'd think it would be easy for a mermaid to get to the bottom of things. Think again.

If you are looking for a quick and a funny read, look no more! This book will give you both of those things, but not too much more. The story line is fantastic, but it needed to be hammered out more, it just didn't flow. The characters have such potential if given the time to blossom. I did love Fred's care free attitiude, refreshing!

Water #2 : Reunion

Synopsis:

A nice adventure... that is what you get when you read this book. Unlike the first in the series where the story was told by Nia, this book is told by Corwin. Again I had to remind myself that this book was written with a much younger audience in mind, but I was still able to get carried away in the story.

An easy read! This book is geared to a much younger crowd but I picked it up because I was in need of mermaid books for one of my challenges that I am trying to complete. I am glad I picked it up, and as long as I reminded myself from time to time that it was not geared to my age brackett I was able to enjoy it. The characters are great and the detail shared to describe them is amazing, I had a blast picturing them in my mind. A very easy and fun book to get lost in.
