Rekindled by Tamera Alexander {Review}

{ Fountain Creek Chronicles #1}

Published March 1st 2006 by Bethany House Publishers (first published 2006)

Other Books in the Fountain Creek Chronicles

At a different time, in a different place, under different circumstances... could two people fall in love once again?

Ten years ago Kathryn Jennings made a vow. For better or worse. And that promise still holds true, even though her marriage has not turned out as she expected. When her husband fails to return home one stormy winter night, she struggles to keep their ranch, but her efforts are blocked at every turn. After a shocking glimpse into her husband's past, Kathryn uncovers a hidden truth. What she wouldn't give to turn back time and be able to love her husband for the man that he was, not for the man she always wanted him to be.

Larson Jennings has spent his entire life running from a broken past, unable to trust, reluctant to try again. One fateful night, his life takes an unexpected twist, and soon he is forced to make a choice. Whatever he chooses, his decision may cost him his life.

First Line(s): Larson Jennings had lived this moment a thousand times over, and it still sent a chill through him.

Favorite Quote(s): Kathryn meant more to him than anything now. She was more than his wife, his lover. She completed him in areas he's never known he was lacking. He regretted that it had taken an intimate brush with death for him to see the truth.

My Review: I went into reading Rekindled with no expectations. I had never read anything by Tamera Alexander and knew know one who could vouch for Rekindled, but at the time it was free on Amazon, so that was reason enough to give it a try!

Now I know this book and my blog name might not mix to the naked eye but I have mentioned in the past that I read everything and I am a Christian.

Rekindled reminded me that true and honest love is worth fighting for and who doesn't need this reminder in their lives? A bit slow at the beginning but in the end it turned into a gem!

A Fair to Remember by Stacey Joy Natzel { review}

                   A Fair to Remember       (Welcome To Redemption #2)

Reformed gang member Wes Carter feels Redemption, Wisconsin, is just the place to relocate his financial business for reasons more than just the name. He’s ready for a nice, quiet life in small town USA. Tara Russell has decided it’s time to add some excitement to her life and get a little wild—no matter how uncomfortable it makes her or her overprotective family. They meet at the local fair one warm summer night and discover opposites attract for all the right reasons. Add a dash of Sugar in the form of an incorrigible Great Dane, and it’s destined to be A Fair To Remember.

First Line: There was no such thing as love at first sight, but Tara Russell needed someone to explain that to Sugar.

My Review: I really enjoyed this quick read! I am going to for sure be reading the other books in the "
Welcome to Redemption" series. Like the first book I got this when it was free on Amazon. It is worth the small price because it's an endearing, fun read. Unrealistic in it's time frame but I think that adds to the story line In A Fair to Remember!

My Rating:Photobucket

Once again I am behind in a whole lot of my reviews. The books I chose to pick up on my own free will will have short and to the point reviews. By doing this I can give my full attention to the books I am reviewing for authors/publishers.
Thanks for your understanding!

Northern Exposure by Jayne Rylon & Mari Carr { review }

Northern Exposure
{Compass Brothers #1}
by Jayne Rylon & Mari Carr

ebook99 pages
Published March 15th 2011 by Samhain Publishing (first published February 15th 2011)

All roads lead home when that's where you've left your heart.
"Compass Brothers, Book 1"
Silas Compton always had his eye on Lucy, the veterinarian's daughter. He was even content to wait for the girl of his dreams to grow up before getting anywhere near her with his family's double-edged legacy.
Waiting around led to fooling around with his best friend-and an impulsive eruption of desire that Lucy's innocent eyes weren't meant to see. Figuring Compton Pass wasn't big enough for either the three of them or the pain he'd caused, Silas let loose his tightly reined wanderlust and headed for Alaska.
Ten years later, when an oil rig accident sends him home, he braces himself for the reopening of old wounds. Instead he finds himself in the care-and welcoming arms-of Lucy and Colby, whose marriage has plenty of room for the man they both still love. And forgive with all their hearts.
As things start to unravel at Compass Ranch, Silas must dig deep for the strength to assume his rightful place in the Compton family...and lay the foundation for a future with his lovers. If he can forgive himself.
Warning: This book is overflowing with sexy cowboys who like to saddle up and ride each other as well as the woman of their dreams. The likelihood of becoming addicted to their ranch family is high. With three more stories yet to come, beware. You won't be able to read just one

First Line(s): Dry brush crackled under the hooves of Silas Compton's roan gelding.

My Review: A steamy erotic read!

I admit to having a rough go starting this book but once Silas made his way back to the ranch where he belonged all along the book picked up for me and I had it finished in no time at all!

I got this book because it was free on Amazon and who doesn't love a book with sexy cowboys and steamy
love sex scenes!
{ can't really call it love because it was missing some of the emotions that led you to believe it was more than just hot sex}

Overall Northern Exposure was a good solid read. I am not a huge fan on the twist at the end but it won't stop me from picking up the rest of this series down the road.

Savannah's Ghost Tale by Kali Willows

Savannah's Ghost Tale
{1 Night Stand Series #45}
by Kali Willows

Kindle Edition
Published (first published October 11th 2011)

Savannah Teale has an obsession with the supernatural—to disprove it. An unorthodox Ghost Hunter with a dark secret, she doesn’t believe in life after death. Not anymore. Being romantically challenged since the traumatic death of her fiancĂ©, she has no interest in dating, but her sister’s loving interference has led her to accept a date for a 1Night Stand.

Cameron Evans is one of Savannah’s most handsome, charismatic, and sexy bachelors. He’s an exceptionally gifted tour guide, and a psychic, but hasn’t learned how to turn off his gifts. Since his conversations with the dead are a turn-off for most women—to put it mildly—Cameron has turned to Madame Eve to find a woman who can accept him for himself and all he has to give.

They may be a great match—if a certain, lingering ghost would just step out of the picture

First Line: Orgasmic groans filled the air.

My Review: If you have seen "Ghost" the movie than you pretty much read this novella!
The good thing about novella's is they are short enough that you can use them to clear your mind in between the bigger novels. If you go into this book just expecting this than you will be fine.

I got this book on my Kindle Fire when it was free on Amazon it's now $3.99

A Fair of The Heart by Donna Marie Rogers {Review}

A Fair of the Heart
{ Welcome to Redemption #1}
by Donna Marie Rogers
WELCOME TO REDEMPTION

Second chances don't always come easy, but in the small town of Redemption, Wisconsin if you're willing to try, anything is possible...

A Fair Of The Heart

Single mother, and work-at-home beautician, Lauren Frazier can barely keep a roof over her head, let alone stop it from falling down around her. When handyman Caleb Hunter stops by for a haircut, he’s like the answer to her prayers—and the attraction is instantaneous. Too bad her troublesome young son isn’t quite as thrilled to have Caleb hanging around.

Old wounds have kept Caleb from returning to Redemption permanently. When he receives word of his mother’s unexpected death, guilt and regret bring him home again, but will the love of a good woman keep him there? Lauren excites Caleb like no woman ever has, but she’s a package deal, and he’s not sure he’s prepared to take on a ready-made family.

First Line(s): " I believe this is your."

My Review: A Fair of the Heart is the first book in a series of 6.
This book was an enjoyable quick read. Not a believable read at all but it didn't make me enjoy this book any less. This book was a nice read before I jumped back into a long novel since this one was short/novella.

I got this book on Amazon when it was free, if you are looking for a sweet quick read and it's still free... give it a go!

Head Over Heels by Jill Shalvis { Review }

Head Over Heels

Mass Market Paperback, 328 pages
Published December 1st 2011 by Forever

Breaking rules and breaking hearts

Free-spirited Chloe lives life on the edge. Unlike her soon-to-be married sisters, she isn't ready to settle into a quiet life running their family's newly renovated inn. But soon her love of trouble—and trouble with love-draws the attention of the very stern, very sexy sheriff who'd like nothing better than to tame her wild ways.

Suddenly Chloe can't take a misstep without the sheriff hot on her heels. His rugged swagger and his enigmatic smile are enough to make a girl beg to be handcuffed. For the first time, instead of avoiding the law, Chloe dreams of surrender. Can this rebel find a way to keep the peace with the straitlaced sheriff? Or will Chloe's colorful past keep her from a love that lasts . . . and the safe haven she truly wants in a town called Lucky Harbor?

First Line(s): It wasn't the first time Chloe Traeger beat her sisters into the kitchen in the morning, but with Tara and Maddie currently sleeping with the town's two hottest hotties, it'd been only a matter of time.

Favorite Line(s): “They say money talks, but all mine ever says is 'good-bye sucker.'" Chloe Traeger”

My Review: It a nutshell... loved it!

I do think this book was a tad bit slower than what I remember the first two books being... but I could be wrong. So many books read I loose track at times.

I think Sawyer might be my favorite dude so far from the Lucky Harbor series.... tall, dark, handsome and a tad bit mysterious... yes please! I also think Chloe's medical condition is a bitch to her love life ( bet that sentence alone gets you to pick this book up), ha ha ha!

I'm so excited to read the next installment in this series, once again Jill Shalvis delivers. She is a perfect go to author, she won't fail you!

Thanks Net Galley for the chance to read this book!

Dangerous Grounds by Shelli Stevens {Review}

Dangerous Grounds

ebook, 254 pages
Published November 1st 2008 by Samhain Publishing, Ltd.

Somethings hot in Seattle, and its not just the espresso. The Seattle Steam series. Madisons needs are simple. All she wants are two things: Make Ooo La Latt the newest trend in espresso, and seduce the sexiest cop in Seattle. But things arent going exactly as planned. First, Gabes a little hung up on the fact that shes his best friends little sister, and hes determined to keep his hands off. Second, her shop gets robbed by the increasingly violent Espresso Bandit, and now shes the only one who can identify him. Gabe whisks her into hiding for her own protection, but soon finds his heart is under assault by the lusciousand persistentMadison. But no matter where they hide, danger follows. On such dangerous grounds, the trick will be to live long enough to keep the flame alive.

First Line(s): That settled it. The next person to ask why she had come to the party alone was getting the bowl of guacamole thrown at them.

My Review: Talk about a quick read... had it done in a few hours ( of course they were not back to back hours because I have kids who want me to feed them 3+ times a day, ha).

I loved Madison... she is fiece, spunky and girl knows what who she wants... Gabe! Get em girl!

I loved how Gabe battled with himself of his self control but seemed to loose it throughout the book when it came to Madison.

The pull between them and the history they share made this an enjoyable read, I was pleasantly surprised. Not sure what I thought I was going to get when I started reading this book but I got way more than I thought.

Added bonus I got this off amazon when it was free, it's now $4.24 and if you asked me it is worth the price
