Colter's Wife: Review

Colter's Wife
(Colters' Legacy #1.5)
by Maya Banks

32 pages

Colters’ Wife is an extended epilogue that picks up just a few months from where Colters' Woman left off. Revisit the Colter family just in time for the birth of their first child.

My Review: This mini read was a nice way to check in with the characters from Colters Woman. I read many reviews and I think this book is getting a bum score in the rating department because people are just seeing the price tag of this book ( free) and not really reading up on the series. Yes, this book is racy and no doubt about it out of many people's comfort zone... but whose fault is that? Not Maya Banks, had these people read up before downloading there would have been no surprises. With that said I wish this story was longer because I do like these characters and I was left feeling teased and not in a good way.... I wanted more details... more...more...more!

My Rating: 3 stars
Until next time...

Without Reservations: Review

Without Reservations
(With or Without #2)
by J.L. Langley
Paperback: 268 pages
Publisher: Samhain Publishing (April 17, 2007)

Sometimes love just catches you by the tail. Chayton Winston is a veterinarian. He is also a werewolf. Much to his Native American parent's chagrin, he has always dreamed of a fair-haired, Caucasian mate. However, he never imagined his mate would be male. As a heterosexual man, he's not quite sure what to do with a male mate, but more than willing to find out. Keaton Reynolds wakes up, in wolf form, and finds himself with a mate. He's instantly attracted, but not so thrilled to find out the man is straight. Having been in a relationship once before where his partner professed to be "Not gay" left a bad taste in his mouth. Keaton wants to make a break for it and pretend he never set eyes on Chay-but Chay is not ready to let him go. Together the two work to solidify their shaky relationship and battle the prejudices against homosexuals. Chay must deal with not only his mother's prejudices against gay men but also her hatred of white people. When a power struggle in Keaton's pack threatens Keaton's life, the two men learn to depend on one another and their relationship to get them through it.

Warning, this title contains the following: explicit sex, graphic language, violence and hot man-love.

First Line(s): "Broom....Broom... Mommy, if I'm a wolf like Daddy, why can't I change into a wolf?"

My Review: I had high hopes for this book. I mean werewolves and romance ( romance is romace, I am not one to look away from m/m or f/f), it has it all. With that said this book was just okay.... maybe a "strong" okay. When I finished it I had a take it or leave it attitude about it. The characters played well off each other and the book had humor, but if you are looking for a romance with depth than keep looking. If you want a steamy romance ( erotic) read, look no farther because it has PLENTY of this!

My Rating: 3 stars

Okay this review is going to be broken into 3 parts ( one for each story) and than given an overall rating at the end.

Too Hot to Handle:

First Line(s): "What the hell is wrong with my image?"

My Review: I wanted more! More! MORE!! I feel this story line and characters had what it takes to be a full length story. Jade adn Quinn feeled very real to me, like neighbors or people I would see in my town everyday. They were endearing. I was bummed when I got to the end of this short but steamy story.

My Rating: 4 stars

"The Firefighter Wears Prada"

First Line(s): Oh. My. God. There he is.

My Review: This was another solid story. I loved how Evan and Delta called each other out from the first moment they met. Made me think of hubby and I because we hold nothing back. But that was it for my love for these two characters. I just didn't feel a connection with them. The story line was awesome and new and refreshing but since I failed to connect with Delta and Evan I was okay with the story ending when it did.

My Rating: 3 Stars

"Playing with Fire"

First Line(s): The acrid smell of smoke rolled through the cracked, second floor window of Lincoln Gabriels townhouse.

My Review: Out of the 3 stories this was probably the hottest of the lot ( who doesn't want hot sex scenes) but this story tried to pack too much in to a short story. Therefore I feel it needed to be a full length book just to get the story out. It felt rush and choppy.

Favorite Line(s): Fighting fires is my passion, but you're my calling."

My Rating: 3 stars

Overall Rating for Men on Fire: 3 stars

4 book reviews

Okay, so to say I am behind over here on my book blog would be an understatement. I hate that I am so far behind, because it use to bring me such joy to come to this post and hack away on my keyboard. Life just sometimes doesn't have enough time in the day! But I am not dead readers, the books are still getting read, just not posted about!

Below are 4 books that I have read in my absents. I am going to be posting the reviews of books together until I am caught up, be patient with me ( maybe I should learn to be patient with myself). HA HA HA!

Twilight by Stephenie Meyer

About three things I was absolutely positive:First, Edward was a vampire.Second, there was a part of him–and I didn’t know how dominant that part might be–that thirsted for my blood. And third, I was unconditionally and irrevocably in love with him.

Isabella Swan's move to Forks, a small, perpetually rainy town in Washington, could have been the most boring move she ever made. But once she meets the mysterious and alluring Edward Cullen, Isabella's life takes a thrilling and terrifying turn. Up until now, Edward has managed to keep his vampire identity a secret in the small community he lives in, but now nobody is safe, especially Isabella, the person Edward holds most dear. The lovers find themselves balanced precariously on the point of a knife -- between desire and danger.

This is a re-read for me, in fact it is the 3rd time I have read this book. To read my original review, click here!

My Review: 5 stars!

Someone wants the Native Americans off their sacred land. And when Navajo journalist Katherine James and park ranger Gabriel Rossiter team up to investigate why, their passion for the truth-and each other-makes them targets for those desperate enough to kill.

First Line: The coyote came out of nowhere.

The Firefighters of Station Five
by Jo Davis

Dont get burned...

Lieutenant Howard "Six- Pack" Paxton loves three things: being a firefighter, riding his Harley, and his bachelorhood. That is, until the curvaceous Kat McKenna falls into his arms at the scene of a fire—and melts the six-foot-six tower of bronze muscle...

But just as passion ignites between them—and they explore new heights of ecstasy—a ruthless arsonist with a deadly secret and a thirst for vengeance becomes their worst nightmare.

First Line: Lieutenant Howard Paxton gritted his teeth against the burn, every muscle straining as he pumped three hundred pounds of iron from his bare, sweaty chest.

Dare to Surrender: Review

by Lilli Feisty

HE MEETS HIS MATCH.
SHE MEETS HER MASTER.

Art gallery curator Joy Montgomery has never liked her body's generous curves. And she's always been too shy to explore her wild side. But tonight, everything is going to change . . .

Desperate to save her job, Joy approaches bad-boy artist Ash Hunter and asks him to exhibit his erotic work at her gallery. Ash agrees on one condition: Joy must pose as his model. But business soon turns to pleasure, as Joy experiences a passion beyond her wildest imaginings and Ash finds more than just inspiration in his voluptuous new muse.

First Line: Half of being successful was luck, right?

My Review: After reading this book I need to go back and read " Bound to Please" Lilli Feisty knows how to make a hot, sinful, smutty, lustful read! Ash and Joy set San Francisco on fire! While these two were the main characters burning up the pages, we also get a mini satisfying story with Joy's best friend Erica and Blaine. Each page in this book oozes sex!

My Rating: 5 stars!!

Warning, this title contains the following: explicit sex, graphic language, mnage a quatre, violence.

Favorite Line(s): n/a

First Line: Adam Colter drew his coat tighter around him and tugged his Stetson lower as he stepped out into the snow.

My Review: This is my first time reading any thing by Maya Banks, but won't be my last. Steamy! A little over the top with the pet names but I am sure most gals love that kind of thing. If your looking for a hot book filled with great erotic scences... look no farther. But, yes there is always a but... story is a tad to predictable for me. Well written, just not many surprises to be had in the story line. Go into this book looking for a hott read and you will not be disappointed!

Unlawful Contact: Review

Unlawful Contact

by Pamela Clare

When a young woman disappears, journalist Sophie Alton investigates and is led to the woman's brother, a convicted killer who is running from the law. Together, they follow a dangerous path toward the truth-and unforgettable passion.

Pamela Clare knows how to write hot romance. Unlawful Contact not only was hot, but it had suspense, and I remained on the edge of my seat the whole way, and it wasn't a book that you had figured out half way through it. Awesome. Pamela Clare also did a wonderful job with the emotions of Sophie and Marc " Hunt" Hunter. Not only could you feel the emotions these two characters had for one another, you can't help but feeling something for them as well.

I normally don't read series out of order, but this is book number 3 of the I-team Series. I read the first one, skipped the second ( library didn't have it) and went straight to Unlawful Contact. Read my review for Extreme Exposure here.

I am giving Unlawful Contact 5 stars!
