On My Wishlist ( #4): 12/2/09

Head over to Book Chick City for more details.

Every week I am going to list a few of my books on my wishlist, trust me you only want me to list a few each week, otherwise this post would never end.
Could you all do me a favor? Great! If you have read a book that is on my wishlist can you tell me your thoughts on it, or link me to the review? This way I can decide if the book needs to be moved up on my wishlist, or taken off of it all together! Thanks my dear readers, you all rock!
I am going to list a book per section in my book folder.

Historical:
The King's Pleasure by Norah Lofts:
The story of tyrant king Henry VIII is told from the perspective of his first wife, Spanish princess Katharine of Aragon, in this re-released 1969 novel. For many years Katherine enjoys the love of her husband and the people of England, until Henry's selfish nature and obsession with young Anne Boleyn threaten Katherine's reign. Her stubborn Catholic views won't allow her to give in to Henry's demand for a divorce, and this same sense of piety ultimately destroys her. While not a page-turner (there's a reason many historical novelists focus on Anne Boleyn rather than Katherine), Lofts's period details are vivid and precise. Despite a somewhat choppy narrative (Anne and Henry's four-year affair is treated more like an afterthought), Lofts drums up such sympathy for Katharine that even though the ending is certain, readers will find themselves praying right along with the queen for Henry's change of heart.

Paranormal:
Royal Blood ( Vampire Kisses #6) by Ellen Schreiber
Summer break is over, and Raven is hardly eager to be returning to Dullsville High. Not only does school mean daily interaction with preppy pest Trevor Mitchell, but her sleep-filled days and romantic nights with her immortal boyfriend, Alexander, must come to an end. Plus the shock of morning classes isn't the only change in store.

An unexpected letter turns up at Alexander's mansion—announcing his parents will be coming to town. And once they arrive, just about everyone has had a sighting of the macabre couple except Raven. What could be delaying Alexander from introducing Raven to them? Could Alexander be hiding something about his parents' homecoming?

When Raven is finally invited to the most thrilling dinner party of her life, the next turn of events could transform her entire future with Alexander. The sixth book in Ellen Schreiber's bestselling Vampire Kisses series takes an unusual twist in the continuing romance of Raven and Alexander.

Romance:
Something Wonderful by Judith McNaught:
The tempestuous marriage of Alexandra Lawrence, an innocent country girl, and Jordan Townsende, the rich and powerful Duke of Hawthorne, is about to face its ultimate test of tender loyalty. Swept into the endlessly fascinating world of London society, free-spirited Alexandra becomes ensnared in a tangled web of jealousy and revenge, stormy pride and overwhelming passion. But behind her husband's cold, arrogant mask, there lives a tender, vital, sensual man...the man Alexandra married. Now, she will fight for his very life...and the rapturous bond they alone can share.

Chick Lit:
I Did ( But I Wouldn't Now) by Cara Lockwood
Never marry a rock star. Lily discovers this the hard way when her husband's affair with a flighty actress is all over the newsstands. She escapes to London and the comforting arms of former flame and now just friend Carter. But trouble (and paparazzi) follow her. Dealing with the divorce is tough enough, but soon she is trying to save Carter from his crazy new girlfriend, too.

Christian:
Becky Miller, ordinary mother and wife, fantasizes about leading the life of a spy and pirate. Her fantasies supply her with the energy needed to ferry her kids around in a minivan, do the laundry, fix ailing machines, and still have something left for her drab husband, Kevin.

Young Adult:
Falling for Romeo by Jennifer Laurens
John can have any girl he wants. Jennifer's never been kissed. Everybody thinks he's perfect. She's got issues with pride and jealousy. They were best friends-once. Now, they're playing Romeo and Juliet. Virgin lips Jennifer must have her first kiss on stage with John, the guy every girl in school wants. The pressure and tension build along with each staged kiss. Both are shocked when feelings bloom. Can either tell which kisses are real and which are for show.

So there you have it, my wishlist for the week. What is on your wishlist? Are there only new books, or are there older books on it?
Until next time...
Happy Reading!
