Monster Blood: Review

My oldest son who is about to finish up the second grade found a new series he loves to read.... goosebumps by R.L. Stine. Trip out, I remember when I was in middle school I loved reading the older series from him. So this review is from my 7 year old, just in case any of you have kids out there around his age.

In the words of 'D' " this book rocks mom"! 'D' was getting up early to read this book ( which is fine because he didn't wake me up, lol) and would crack it open the second he got home from school. The age Amazon gives for a suggestion is 9, but 'D' who again is 7, is having no trouble with it, and is able to tell hubby and I all about what he is reading.

When asked ' D' gives this book " maybe 4 stars". HA HA HA!!!

Well there you have it folks, a review out of the month of my little man. I look forward to sharing many more books from my boys and their summer reading. Thinking I might even make a book challenge out of it!

Children's Books: A new Adventure, plus a trip down memory lane.

Tonight at bedtime, I will be taking the boys on a new adventure, while I take a trip down memory lane. How so, well let me introduce you to one of the all time best children's book series of all time, I am certain you have heard of them...

While cleaning out the garage a few weeks ago, I found my copy of this book, and just knew it needed to be bought back to life! No more dark, cold box for this book... oh no, this book is going to take my boys on a new adventure. One where things were not measured by the things we owned or processed, but by the love we had in our hearts!


I will have to get the other copies from the library when the time comes, I didn't see them in the box.

P.S. I do have to laugh at the first sentence of this book...

"Once upon a time, sixty years ago....."

Lot longer than 60 years ago now!! HA HA HA

Don't Let the Pigeon Drive the Bus!: Review

I thought for today's post I would talk about my 3 year olds favorite book. 'J's face lights up, and he screams when I pull this book out to read him.

Don't Let the Pigeon Drive the Bus! by Mo Williams.

By now, even though this blog is new, people should see how much books play a part in my life, and I want my kids to cherish books has much as I do. So, when I come across a book that captures the innocence of them, I have to add it to our collection.

'J' loves telling that pigeon "NOOOooooo".

This book won a 2003 Caldecott Honor.

I will be the first to admit that their are many, many books out there that my kids want me to read over and over again, and of course I do, but I do not enjoy the story. This is just not the case with this book, not only do I enjoy the story and that crazy little pigeon, I love the face my little boy has when he is read this book.

Many have probably heard of this book, if so... what is your take on it? If you haven't seen or read it, pick it up, it just might become a favorite in your house as well!

The Kight at Dawn: Magic Tree House #2

I am sure by the name of my blog people would assume the chances of me talking about children't books were slim, but that is just not the case!

Many of you noticed from my Wordless Wednesday picture of D, that he was reading a book from the Magic Tree House series. Good eyes my friends!

'D' loves this series, and he plows through them, which again makes for one happy mommy. I wish he would read them in order ( at least when it comes to my blog), but he won't, he is all over that series.

The book he just finished was The Knight at Dawn by Mary Pope Osborne.

" Peacocks for dinner and boys in skirts? That's what Jack and Annie find when the Magic Tree House whisks them back to the Middle Ages for another wild adventure. In the Great Hall of the castle, a feast is under way. But Jack and Annie aren't exactly welcome guests!"

If you have a kid 'D's age ( he is 7) that is branching out to read books by themselves, the Magic Tree House Series is perfect.
