Children's Books: A new Adventure, plus a trip down memory lane.

Tonight at bedtime, I will be taking the boys on a new adventure, while I take a trip down memory lane. How so, well let me introduce you to one of the all time best children's book series of all time, I am certain you have heard of them...

While cleaning out the garage a few weeks ago, I found my copy of this book, and just knew it needed to be bought back to life! No more dark, cold box for this book... oh no, this book is going to take my boys on a new adventure. One where things were not measured by the things we owned or processed, but by the love we had in our hearts!


I will have to get the other copies from the library when the time comes, I didn't see them in the box.

P.S. I do have to laugh at the first sentence of this book...

"Once upon a time, sixty years ago....."

Lot longer than 60 years ago now!! HA HA HA

Children's Classics - Christmas Books

This is my first time taking part in any of the meme's put out by 5 Minutes for Books ( click above picture).

How happy was I when I came across this site when I decided to start a new blog just for my thoughts on books! YAY!

Today they asked us to share our favorite children's Christmas Story ( or any holiday). There are many fantastic books out there for Christmas children books, but my pick is.....

The Legend of the Candy Cane

"A stranger arrives in town one dreary November and begins hammering and sawing away at his newly rented storefront. When a small girl offers her help, she's in for a childhood fantasy-come-true, as it turns out all the shelves and counters are being built for a candy shop. After offering young Lucy gumdrops and lollipops, Mr. Sonneman launches into the history of the candy cane. With his guidance, she discovers that the upturned candy is in the shape of a j--for Jesus. Right side up it looks like a shepherd's staff. And the red stripes? The blood of Christ from his terrible whipping. Lucy and Mr. Sonneman set out on a quest to share this story with everyone in town. Their message (and their gift of the pepperminty red-and-white sticks) brings the whole town together in a joyful celebration of Christmas (and candy)."

This is a great story that focus's on the true meaing of why and who we celebrate Christmas for.
