Never Love a Highlander by Maya Banks { Review}

Never Love a Highlander

Mass Market Paperback, 305 pages
Published October 25th 2011 by Ballantine Books

In a tale of strong ties and true love, Maya Banks’s trilogy comes to its stunning conclusion, as the youngest McCabe brother uses sword and seduction to save his clan—and seal his heart.

Caelen McCabe’s young, reckless heart nearly destroyed his clan. Now, putting family loyalty above all else, he steps up to marry his older brother’s jilted bride and salvage the uneasy alliance between two clans. While beautiful Rionna McDonald is a fit wife for any man, Caelen trusts no woman, especially not this sweet temptress who torments him with white-hot longing.

As the sacrificial lamb in her father’s power game, Rionna will do her duty but vows to protect her heart and her pride from humiliation. Despite everything, though, the heat in Caelen’s touch melts her defenses, and she craves the sensual delights of a husband who guards his emotions as fiercely as his clan. But when the ultimate battle for the McCabe legacy is upon them, Rionna’s true warrior spirit emerges. She will risk the wrath of her father, the fury of her enemies, and her life to prove to Caelen that his wife’s love is too precious to lose.

First Line(s): The weather for her first wedding had been a splendor of nature.

Favorite Line(s): Love required sacrifice. It required trust and faith. It required making yourself completely vulnerable to the one you loved.

My Review: A great start to 2012! I picked the right book forsure!

Maya Banks wrapped up the McCabe trilogy perfectly! She delivered from the first book all the way to the last and never once lost any steam!

I loved how Rionna and Caelen both came into their relationships with battles they fought within themselves, it made them seem more real to me.

I wish we could hear Gannon's story, he played such a big role in all 3 books... maybe Maya will surprise us???

The McCabe brothers are a mighty, loyal and sexy force to reckon with. This trilogy is a must for any who loves a good romance series!

The one thing that bugs me about this series, and this has nothing to do with Maya Banks is the covers! While they are all nice to look at, none of them got the McCabe brother's right. It is times like this I wish authors had a bit more say in the cover art.

Seduction of a Highland Lass by Maya Banks {review}

Seduction of a Highland Lass

Mass Market Paperback, 323 pages
Published September 27th 2011 by Ballantine Books

A warrior is caught between family loyalty and forbidden love in book two of bestselling author Maya Banks’s sensual new trilogy featuring three indomitable Highlanders.

Fiercely loyal to his elder brother, Alaric McCabe leads his clan in the fight for their birthright. Now he is prepared to wed for duty, as well. But on his way to claim the hand of Rionna McDonald, daughter of a neighboring chieftain, he is ambushed and left for dead. Miraculously, his life is saved by the soft touch of a Highland angel, a courageous beauty who will put to the test his fealty to his clan, his honor, and his deepest desires.

An outcast from her own clan, Keeley McDonald was betrayed by those she loved and trusted. When the wounded warrior falls from his horse, she is drawn to his strong, lean body. The wicked glint in his green eyes ignites a passion that will follow them back to Alaric’s keep, where their forbidden love draws them deeper into the pleasures of the flesh. But as conspiracy and danger circle closer, Alaric must make an impossible choice: Will he betray his blood ties for the woman he loves?

First Line(s): Alaric McCabe looked out over the expanse of McCabe land and grappled with the indecision plaguing him.

Favorite Line(s): “I know you told me not to kiss you, lass, but I should warn you that I’ve never been good at taking directions.”

My Review: I was on edge a few times during this book, wasn't sure how Maya Banks was going to turn it around, but boy did she!

I think Alaric might be in my top 5 of favorite Highlanders. He is all Alpha, all the time ( seems to be a strong trait amongst the McCabe's). You get steamy sex filled with true feelings. Maya Banks may not add all the Highlander talk but she knows how to work her magic in giving us a true historical love story and I can't wait to open up the 3rd book in this series ( hubby gave it to me for Christmas).

You will not be sorry if you pick up this series to read. And the good thing is you don't have to wait for the books, they were released back to back which is my favorite type of series!

Almost done playing catch up, feels good!

In Bed with a Highlander by Maya Banks {review}

In Bed with a Highlander

Mass Market Paperback, 352 pages
Published August 30th 2011 by Ballantine Books

Bestselling author Maya Banks’s beguiling new trilogy features three unforgettable brothers risking everything to save their clan and their legacy—and to surrender their hearts to love.

Ewan McCabe, the eldest, is a warrior determined to vanquish his enemy. Now, with the time ripe for battle, his men are ready and Ewan is poised to take back what is his—until a blue-eyed, raven-haired temptress is thrust upon him. Mairin may be the salvation of Ewan’s clan, but for a man who dreams only of revenge, matters of the heart are strange territory to conquer.

The illegitimate daughter of the king, Mairin possesses prized property that has made her a pawn—and wary of love. Her worst fears are realized when she is rescued from peril only to be forced into marriage by her charismatic and commanding savior, Ewan McCabe. But her attraction to her ruggedly powerful new husband makes her crave his surprisingly tender touch; her body comes alive under his sensual mastery. And as war draws near, Mairin’s strength, spirit, and passion challenge Ewan to conquer his demons—and embrace a love that means more than revenge and land.

First Line(s): Mairin Stuart knelt on the stone floor beside her pallet and bowed her head in her evening prayer.

Favorite line(s): "There's little decency to good loving" Maddie said. "If 'tis decent, it isn't much fun"!”

My Review: Maya Banks brought my love back for a good Highlander book!
I loved that we didn't have to wait too long for the hot lovin'! It wasn't anything overly graphic, but it's steamy nonetheless, I mean you did get that this is a Highlander novel, right? What more do you need? Ewan has no problem teaching Mairin the arts of love making, wowzer!

I also love that the books in this series were released back to back, no wating for the next book on the hot McCabe brothers.... I adore when authors do this, thanks Maya Banks!
